Welcome to Kids Computers in Carolina, Inc.!  We are a non-profit 501(c)(3) charitable organization based in Eastern North Carolina with the mission of providing refurbished computer systems and other technology equipment to children or families in financial need.  We also promote technology use for children in low-wealth communities in our region.  We serve low-wealth communities in the Eastern North Carolina counties listed below: 

Counties:  Beaufort, Bertie, Bladen, Camden, Carteret, Chowan, Columbus, Craven, Cumberland, Currituck, Dare, Duplin, Edgecombe, Franklin, Gates, Greene, Halifax, Harnett, Hertford, Hyde, Johnston, Jones, Lenoir, Martin, Nash, Northampton, Onslow, Pamlico, Pasquotank, Pender, Perquimans, Pitt, Robeson, Sampson, Tyrrell, Warren, Washington, Wayne, Wilson 

We collect donations of used working and non-working computers, as well as working monitors.  We refurbish these computers back into working order and then donate the systems to qualified children or families in financial need through an application process.  We also accept monetary donations which are used to purchase replacement parts as needed to refurbish computers that may have non-working parts after receiving the donation, as well as purchasing the required Microsoft licensing for these computers.  Sometimes, funds are used to purchase working and non-working computer systems from government surplus in order to donate to children or families.  When a child or family receives a donated computer from our organization, it is loaded with the necessary license to run the operating system.  Some computers may also have a Microsoft Office license loaded depending on available funding.  Volunteers in our organization handle the entire refurbishing process, as well as the set up needed for recipients.
