We encourage individuals and businesses to donate used computer systems to our non-profit organization!  We accept the following types of systems, regardless of their working order:

  • Desktop PCs from around 2004 to current age (older computers tend to be incompatible)
  • Laptop PCs from the same age range

All computers go through a very strict refurbishing process, including the erasure of the hard drive inside the computer.  This is to protect the privacy of both the previous owner who donated the computer, as well as the future recipient of the donated computer.

We currently do not accept donated Apple computers due to limited resources.  We may accept donations of this computer type in the future, so check back often for updates.  Also, if a computer case is damaged or is in poor shape, it will not be accepted.

If the computer cannot be refurbished, parts from the computer will be safely removed as some parts can be used in other systems we receive, and the rest can be safely recycled.

To arrange for pickup of your donated computer system(s), please call (252) 512-0128 or e-mail us at:  This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it..

We also accept monetary donations of any amount.  A donation as low as $5 can make a huge impact on a child or family with a computer.  Please make checks payable to:  Kids Computers in Carolina, Inc.  Monetary donations are essential to purchase replacement parts during the refurbishing process of computers.  Some donated computers are received with parts of the system not working, and can be fairly inexpensive to replace parts to bring them back to working order for recipient children or families.  In addition, licensing from Microsoft is required for the operating system in order to donate the computer.  The organization also has a small operating budget to handle daily operations of managing the refurbishing and donation process that is completely funded based on donations of our leadership, volunteers and donors.

Donations can be made either online or through the mail.  Kids Computers in Carolina, Inc. is a 501(c)(3) Charitable Organization.  Your donations are tax deductible.
